The Himalayan RE spied again
Royal Enfield Himalayan spied on test once again, this time it was by a reader of GaadiWaadi. The vehicle was noted to sport a number of components from Continental GT such as headlamp, instrument console and front fender. Other features to be seen on the Royal Enfield Himalayan which are similar to that seen on the Continental GT
Royal Enfield Himalayan spied on test once again, this time it was by a reader of GaadiWaadi. The vehicle was noted to sport a number of components from Continental GT such as headlamp, instrument console and front fender. Other features to be seen on the Royal Enfield Himalayan which are similar to that seen on the Continental GT are its aluminium wheels, tyres and brakes. What is different from the GT, is the raised handlebars for better comfort, and a more upright riding position.
Seen testing around Chennai, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan also receives some new features, for eg, it will be the first RE to receive a monoshock suspension. Built on a single downtube chassis, the bike will be offered in two seat options that include a single seat or dual seat depending on buyer’s preferences.
To be launched sometime in 2016, Royal Enfield Himalayan will sport a new 410 cc engine, which is expected to offer 30 bhp power and 40 Nm torque. To offer better off-roading and water wading capabilities, Himalayan will sport new exhausts with upward pointing end canisters. It will also receive a new fuel tank design and alloy fuel filler cap.
Royal Enfield Himalayan is developed by Pierre Terblanche, the famed motorcycle designer who joined RE in November 2014. Considering Royal Enfield Continental GT is priced at around Rs 2.1 lakhs, it would not be wrong to expect Royal Enfield Himalayan in a price range of around Rs 2.50, once launched.
