Hyderabad: Honda Cars India is targeting over 10,000 units in total car sales across Telangana state in the current fiscal. The Japanese carmaker which markets a wide range of vehicles in the country had sold about 8,400 cars in the newly-created state in last financial year.

“Our sales have gone up by over nine per cent so far this year, which is in line with our national growth. We are expecting higher growth as we have just launched new Jazz hatchback. Our total sales in Telangana will be higher than 10,000 units this fiscal,” Sandeep Madan, Zonal Head-South, Honda Cars India Ltd, told The Hans India at the launch event of Honda Jazz hatchback here on Wednesday.

According to him, diesel versions account for nearly fifty per cent of the total sales in Telangana. “In the case of City, the petrol sales are higher than diesel. When it comes to cumulative sales of other models, it’s fifty-fifty for petrol and diesel versions,” he explained.

Earlier speaking to media, Jnaneswar Sen, the company’s Sr Vice President (Marketing & Sales), said Honda Cars India would grow faster than industry average and clock double digit growth during the current fiscal. In last financial year, the automaker sold 1.89 lakh units in India, registering a year-on-year growth of 41 per cent.
