BMW S 1000 XR features at Auto Expo 2016

Delhi: The adventure tourer would go on sale in India later this year. The BMW S 1000 XR adventure tourer has been showcased at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida. It is expected to be launched in the coming months.
Based on the S 1000 RR’s platform, this adventure tourer derivative adopts a long travel suspension, larger fuel tank and an upright riding stance. BMW says that the S 1000 XR offers a good blend of dynamics, comfort and endurance, making it the brand’s most versatile offering.
The adventure tourer is underpinned by an aluminium bridge type frame with engine as the stressed member and is suspended by 46 mm USD front fork (adjustable compression and rebound damping) and rear mono shock (adjustable rebound damping). The liquid-cooled 999 cc inline four-cylinder engine comes from the S 1000 RR but is tuned to produce 160 PS and 11,000 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 9,250 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox is mated to the motor by means of a multiplate slipper clutch.
Equipment highlights include multiple riding modes, Automatic Stability Control, ABS and many more.
