The 2017 Honda Civic hatchback concept, third body style of the new gen Civic after sedan and coupe, has been teased ahead of its world debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show on March 1. The concept previews a production model which is slated to be ready early next year.

The teaser images reveals the rear fascia almost fully. The signature LED tailights and basic shape of the elements are pretty close to that of its sedan and coupe siblings. The bumper carries huge air vents and a diffuser with twin circular tailpipes in the middle. The rear windshield is steeply raked, so much so that that car could be classified as a fastback.

The front fascia and most part of sheet metal design on the sides are expected to be derived from the sedan. The 5-door hatchback would be targeting younger audience and this time, it will cater to more international markets outside Europe, including the US. The hot hatchback will be made at Honda UK Manufacturing’s facility in Swindon.

The production model would feature toned down design cues. Like the sedan, the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback would receive the new 175 PS 1.5-litre turbocharged i-VTEC petrol engine which is mated to CVT. The existing 158 PS 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, mated to a manual gearbox, is also expected to be a part of the lineup.

Honda Car India is expected to launch the sedan version of the new Civic here eventually but is highly unlikely to bring the hatchback model.
