The new variant doesn’t feature mechanical enhancements. The Hyundai HB20 R-Spec, a new sporty variant of the Brazil-spec hatchback, has been launched at a price of 53,895 reals (around INR 9.24 lakhs) for the manual variant and 58,195 reals (around INR 9.98 lakhs) for the automatic variant. Though the R-Spec moniker has an obvious performance-oriented appeal to it, the actual car is merely a cosmetically enhanced variant of the regular hatchback.

The HB20 R-Spec sports a front grille with graphite finish for the borders and new meshing. The new variant is also bestowed with black finished wing mirror caps and new 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. A sporty rear bumper with pseudo air-intake rounds off the enhancements on the outside. The R-Spec trim is available in white, silver, red and blue exterior color options.

The interior settles for the tried and tested black color theme with red accents for the AC vents, seats and door trims. Satin chrome trimming for the hand break lever, perforated leather cover for the steering wheel and aluminium pedals are the other highlights. The instrument console too undergoes minor revisions.

The Hyundai HB20 R-Spec retains the regular hatchback’s 1.6-litre flex-fuel engine which is mated either to a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. While running on ethanol, the motor is capable of producing 128 PS and 161.7 Nm of torque.
