After the positive response for the concept, TVS Motors is learnt to have advanced the launch timeline to festive period of 2016 from early 2017.

The TVS Akula 310 production version (codenamed U69) which is a fully faired derivative of the BMW G 310 R has been envisioned by a speculative rendering. The motorcycle was previewed by the razor sharp design concept at the Auto Expo last month.

Even after significant toning down of the design language, the production spec Akula 310 would still be a very aggressive motorcycle, as the rendering suggests. The artist has added road-legal headlamps (twin units), shorter windscreen, ironed out fairing panels, a new tailpiece with lesser rake angle, thicker foam for the split seats, a bigger brake light and a different silencer canister. The front blinkers are integrated into the rear view mirror caps but the actual production spec bike may use a conventional fairing mounted units.

The Akula 310 is strongly expected to carry forward the concept’s hardware setup with a sturdy USD front fork, trellis chassis, rear monoshock, clip-on handlebar and a disc brake at each wheel. It’s safe to expect the upcoming TVS flagship to employ fully digital instrument console, tubeless tyres and dual-channel ABS.

The 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooler fuel-injected engine mated to a 6-speed transmission would be borrowed from the G 310 R but we expect TVS to tweak the motor to offer a distinct character. On board the Beemer, the motor produces 34 bhp and 28 Nm of torque.
