Next-generation Nissan Micra spied
Nissan will debut the next-generation Micra this year, to replace the current model in the European markets. A test mule of the hatchback based on the new CMFA platform was spotted recently.
Nissan will debut the next-generation Micra this year, to replace the current model in the European markets. A test mule of the hatchback based on the new CMFA platform was spotted recently.
The current MIcra is based on the V platform that has been in use for almost 13 years. The hatchback that competes with the Ford Fiesta hatchback in the global market is currently produced at the Nissan-Renault facility in Chennai and exported globally.
The company however will move production of the new car to Renault’s facility in France, which also produces the Clio and Zoe. The test mule of the new Micra is heavily camouflaged, but shows the V-shaped grille and sweptback headlamps. The car also seems to be bigger than the current model.
The new Micra should debut at the Paris Motor Show in September. Renault-Nissan alliance will build cars based on the CMFA platform in India, and the new Micra will be produced here, but probably at a much later date and only for the developing markets. It will be launched in India mostly towards the end of 2017.
