Bajaj Qute quadricycle received a 1 Star rating by EURO NCAP.Bajaj Qute was crash tested a few days ago. Even though it was awarded just 1 star, Bajaj Auto released a misleading claim that it is better than some of the best selling cars on sale in India like the VW Polo, Ford Figo, Tata Nano, Hyundai i10 and Tata Nano.

This claim did not go down well with VW India and Global NCAP. General Secretary of Global NCAP, David Ward sent off a letter to Bajaj Auto for their misleading / exaggerated safety claims.

Bajaj Auto also faced the ire of VW India as the company made reference to Volkswagen Polo. Bajaj Auto claimed that the Qute quadricycle had received higher ratings as compared to Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Alto and Tata Nano. Volkswagen confirmed that its VW Polo in India received a 4 star safety rating in crash tests.

Global NCAP ratings are vital to the Bajaj Qute as the company exports the quadricycle to a host of international markets. Tested along with other products it was seen that Chatenet CH30 and Renault Twizy got 2-stars while Aixam Crossover GTR, Tazzari Zero and Microcar M-GO were rated on par with the Bajaj Qute. Ligier IXO and Clubcar received a 0 star rating.

Following this exchange of letters, Bajaj Auto Limited has strongly opposed the Global NCAP claim. The company has also enumerated Bajaj Qute performance in international markets. FY16 saw cumulative exports of 334 units to 19 global markets that included Turkey, Russia, Indonesia and Peru. This month, Bajaj plans to export 500 units, while this fiscal they aim to export 10,000 units.

Anyways, below is the crash test video which started all.
