Considering that the Japanese sedan is comfortably leading the sales chart in its segment, it could manage to keep its momentum going throughout 2016 without the update. The Hyundai Verna, on the other hand, could do with a shot in the arm.
The City facelift is expected to borrow its styling cues from its Chinese counterpart which goes by the name Greiz. More chrome, new bumpers, expressive sheet metal contours and Civic-like wraparound taillights are likely to be the key design changes.
The facelift would also serve as an opportunity for the automaker to rectify a few shortcomings (such as high noise levels of the diesel variants) based on the customer feedback. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and i-DTEC diesel engines would continue, albeit with improvements.
Honda is gearing up to launch the BR-V crossover early next month. The Mobilio-based 7-seater will compete with the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Hyndai Creta.
