Given that Maruti’s AMT supplier Magneti Marelli now has an operational AMT plant in Manesar, it’s only matter of time before the automaker launches more clutchless models.

The introduction of AMT is expected to increase the already popular Swift’s appeal even further. However, it remains to be seen whether the mechanized gearbox will be offered in petrol variant or diesel variant. The Vitara Brezza compact crossover is also in the line to receive the AGS (Auto Gear Shift) model.
The Swift AMT is expected to follow the Swift Limited Edition for which the company is currently conducting a naming competition on its social media platforms. The Swift is powered by 84 PS 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 75 PS 1.3-litre diesel engines. The AMT is most likely to be available with the diesel engine. The Dzire would also receive the update in due course.
Suzuki is currently developing a new gen Swift which will feature an evolutionary exterior design and a revamped interior design. The car is expected to world premiere in 2017. The Japanese automaker’s upcoming Gujarat plant is likely to manufacture the upcoming iteration.
