Launch in Brazil is expected in early 2017.The Fiat C-SUV (Project 551) is gearing up to make its world premiere at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in November this year. A pair of fully camouflaged production ready prototypes was spotted in Brazil in the company of rivals Hyundai Tucson (called as ix35 Brazil) and Honda CR-V.

The C-SUV which is reported to bring back the Compass nameplate derives several components from the smaller Renegade and slightly bigger Fiat Toro pickup truck. Market positioning will be above the Renegade and below the Cherokee.

Brazilian media houses suggest that the design will be closer to the Cherokee with narrow headlamps and the famous 7-slat Jeep grille. The profile and rear fascia help the car’s straightforward SUV stance.

Brazil and India are earmarked as the primary production locations for the upcoming Jeep. The FCA plant in the Latin American nation is expected to focus on supplying the car to markets in South and North America while the Indian plant (located in Ranjangaon near Pune) is expected to cater to Asia and Europe.

Production of the Jeep C-SUV in India is expected to commence towards the end of 2017 and a new investment has been announced for this purpose. Jeep will officially enter India in the coming weeks with the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models (both will be imported as CBUs).
