There are no production plans, at least not as of now.The Harley Davidson XG750R which is set to participate in the flat track racing series starting from tomorrow at Springfield Mile, Illinois, is the brand’s first racing machine in the last 44 years. Based on the Street 750 cruiser, the racing machine will be piloted by Harley’s factory team rider Davis Fisher.
The XG750R is powered by the Revolution X 750 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that is derived from the Street 750. The motor is race prepped by aftermarket performance specialist Vance & Hines. The outfit is also responsible for the new frame. The bike is designed for the sideways mud-slinging action that the flat track series is so popular for.
Visually, the stripped down machine looks nothing like any of the HD cruisers. The headlamp is replaced by number plate and there is no front fender or chain cover. Other highlights include a slender fuel tank, high-mounted exhaust system with twin canisters, flat seat with stopper and off-road tyres. The front wheel doesn’t have a brake!
The motorcycle adopts a special black and red dual-tone livery which makes it look like entirely different bike from each side. Based on the response for this bike, HD may come up with more such on-off racing machines.
The Harley Davidson XG750R is currently only a race bike and the company has no plans of coming up with a production version, at least not as of now.
