The VW Polo GT Sedan, a new range-topping version of Russia’s Vento, has been launched to target driving enthusiasts. The sedan is powered by the 125 PS version of the 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine.

The motor is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission but can also be specified with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Drive is sent to the front wheels. The performance-oriented variant also features quite a few cosmetic enhancements as well.

The Polo GT Sedan sports 16-inch multispoke alloy wheels, aerodynamic skirts, an integrated rear spoiler on the boot lid, black contrast roof and wing mirror caps, honeycomb front grille and secondary air dam, LED daytime running lights with projectors headlamp elements (like in the Jetta), twin chrome exhaust tips and GT badges on the front fender.

Inside, the sporty sedan receives a flat-bottomed steering wheel, GT branded door sill plates, checked seat covers, and a few additional features. The first 300 customers will also receive twin black-red racing stripes on the bonnet and boot.

The Russian auto industry has been witnessing a severe downturn of late and all the automakers are leaving no stones unturned to keep their momentum from reducing further. Volkswagen’s introduction of the Polo GT Sedan could be seen as move to generate interest on the sedan.
