Wow! Toyota Innova Crysta crowned best selling MPV in India
The MPV registered a year-on-year growth of 44%.The Toyota Innova Crysta ended its first month of sale in India by registering an impressive YoY growth of 44%. Last month, the MPV managed to clock 7,259 units as against May 2015’s figure of 5,028 units.

This sale performance also helped the Innova Crysta to regain the title of best selling MPV in India once again from the Maruti Ertiga.
The Innova Crysta’s sales performance is even more impressive when month-on-month growth rate is considered. The old Innova ended April 2016 at 4,269 units so the Crysta’s MoM growth stands at 70%. The surge in sales comes despite the new gen MPV’s significantly higher price tag.
The new Innova Crysta is available with two diesel engine options – 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre. The former makes 154 PS and is paired with a 5-speed MT while the latter is good enough for 177 PS and is available exclusively with a 6-speed AT. Both these variants are being affected by NGT diesel ban which is currently implemented in Delhi and Kerela (the state’s high court has stayed the ban for 60 days).
Toyota Kirloskar Motor earlier said that it has lost 7% of its annual sales due to the ban. If NGT has its way, it would extend the ban to 11 more cities in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Innova Crysta has garnered over 20,000 bookings in about a months’ time. The current waiting period stands at 2-4 months depending on the location and variant.
