Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover global sales saw an 18% rise in May 2016. Company sales stood at 44,946 units last month, up 18% with the Discovery Sport being a major attraction with 10,075 units sold during the month.

Luxury automobile brands, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover all noted increase in sales during May 2016.BMW global sales increased 5.3% in May 2016 with 198,354 units delivered while year to date sales were up 5.0% with 935,288 units sold across the globe from January 2016 to date. BMW models that were more in demand during May included the BMW 2 Series of which 16,823 units were sold while sales of BMW X1 stood at 13,884 units. BMW X4 sales were up 13% to 4,947 units while of the BMW 7 Series the company sold 4,539 units globally accounting for a 32.4% increase in sales.

The BMW 330e iPerformance model that went on sale across Europe in March this year has been in high demand in the UK while BMW and MINI sales increased considerably across Europe, Asia and the US. Year to date MINI sales increased 5.2% to 136,617 units with the MINI Convertible seeing a 116.7% increase in sales with 3,604 units delivered while 4,681 units of the MINI Clubman were sold during the past month.

BMW Motorrad sales during May 2016 stood at 15,180 units, an increase of 1.2% over sales in May 2015 while year to date sales were up 4.5% to 65,761 units.

Mercedes Benz sales declined by 1% in May 2016 across the US which was compensated by increased global sales. Sales of compact cars and SUVs noted a 13% increase with 170,625 units sold in May 2015 while sales in China, the world’s leading auto markets saw a 39% increase in sales.

Having overtaken Audi in sales, the company now targets BMW and has managed to surpass BMW in year to date sales wherein Mercedes sales stood at 818,175 units over BMW sales which was at 797,457 units.

German luxury automaker Audi AG reported sales increase of 6.7% during May 2016 with 1,64,150 units sold during the past month. Growth of Audi A4 sedan and A4 Avant was up 16.2% while sales of the Q7 SUV increased 79.6% in May.

Audi sales across Europe increased 9.7% while sales in Asia Pacific and North America increased 5.7% and 3.8% respectively. Taking global sales since January 2016 into account, sales were up 5.3% to 784,250 units as against sales in the same period of the previous year.

Volvo Cars global sales were up 5.5% in May 2016 with 42,107 units sold with particular attention being paid to the new Volvo XC90 and XC60. Volvo Cars year to date sales were up 10.4%.

Volvo sales across China increased to 7,045 units while locally produced models XC60 and S60L were in higher demand. Sales across US were up 10.2% while sales in Europe increased to 22,638 units, up 3.3% in May 2016.

F-Pace too gave the Jaguar brand a push in sales for the month. Year to date sales of Jaguar Land Rover are at 245,100 units up 23% over sales in the same period of the previous year.
