The production model is expected to be a more advanced version of the LiveWire concept. Two years after unveiling the Harley Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycle, the company has finally given a green signal to a production version.

Talking to Milwaukee Business Journal, Sean Cummings, Vice President of global demand, Harley Davidson, stated that the electric motorcycle is already under active development.

The Project LiveWire starred in the Avengers Age of Ultron as a part of HD’s brandshaping excercise.
The American cruiser brand has been using its LiveWire concept to receive feedback from its loyal customers by going on a global tour. The development process will keep the feedback in mind.

Not much about the upcoming product is know as of now but one can be sure that it will have a high pitched whine instead of a traditional Harley V-Twin rumble. It remains to be seen what the brand’s purist customers would think of an electric cruiser.

If the LiveWire’s design is anything to go by, the upcoming pure electric Harley will have a modern power-cruiser like design with rich equipment package. Battery pack and powertrain will sit where a conventional motorcycle’s IC engine is located. A fully digital instrument console helps the rider to monitor the battery status is a given.

With a market-ready electric motorcycle, Harley Davidson would be future proof and would be looking to hold this technology as an advantage over its rivals when the time for large-scale electrification in the auto industry finally arrives.
