Set for flight tests, the new Russian Irkut MC-21-300 airliner made its public appearance at Irkutsk Aviation Plant. It will compete with Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 with first deliveries scheduled to start from 2018.
Irkut MC-21-300 airliner is joint effort of UAC enterprises – including Aviastar-SP, newly established AeroCompozit and UAC-Aggregation Center.

Irkut MC-21-300 airliner boasts of the most innovative of design solutions and the latest in components as compared to its rivals.Irkut MC-21-300 airliner has a range of approximately 4,000 miles (6,400 km). It has a capacity of 150-212 (depending on seating arrangement) passengers. Russian aircraft manufacturer has already received 175 orders for MS-21 aircraft.
Buyers of MC-21 can opt for two engine manufacturers offering the latest in propulsion systems. These units are built with the advanced engine design with enhanced fuel burn, reduced noise and emissions besides lower life cycle costs.
Materials used ensure better aero elasticity, sturdiness and service life while at the same time offering minimum structural weight. Wingbox is based on Vacuun Infusion Process while the aircraft possess an integrated on-board fault detection system for real-time monitoring of technical conditions of all components.
State of the art navigation instruments and radio communication allows for safe operation even in the most adverse of weather conditions.
While Irkut has launched the smallest two versions of the MC-21 airliner, MC-21-400, a 240 seater model is a long term part of the program.
