The micro crossover is already being exported to South Africa and a few other RHD markets. According to Economic Times’ sources, Mahindra is targeting to export 20,000 units of KUV100 to Hungary and South Africa in the first year.

While Mahindra exports knocked down kits to South Africa to be assembled locally, Hungary will receive the LHD model as a completely built unit. The LHD version which is reported to be available in both petrol and diesel versions is likely to pack added safety features like multiple airbags, standard ABS with EBD, and ESP so that it can pass the stringent Euro NCAP crash tests.

The 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines of the export spec variants would be uprated to comply with the latest European emission norms. There could be slight variations in the power and torque outputs due to these tweaks.

The Mahindra KUV100 will be positioned as an affordable, spacious and efficient micro crossover in Europe. It would be competing with smaller city hatchbacks like the VW Up!, Renault Twingo, etc.
