India’s leading car maker, Maruti Suzuki India has announced a price hike across their entire line-up. The latest price hike was inevitable is the company's 4th price hike in the last 12 months.
The last time Maruti hiked car prices was in January this year. At that time Maruti had blamed increase in input costs as the reason for price hike. This time, Maruti Suzuki has blamed forex fluctuations and marketing strategies as the reason behind price hike.
Though the price hike has been nominal of about INR 1,500 to INR 5,000 for the entire range, their newest and best-selling cars, Baleno and Vitara Brezza have been affected the most. Maruti Suzuki India has increased price of Baleno by INR 10,000 while that of Vitara Brezza has been increased by INR 20,000. It is not known why the price of their best-selling cars, which commands a waiting period of up to 8 months in some cases, has been increased more than that of their other cars.
Earlier today, Maruti Suzuki revealed their monthly sales figures for July 2016. The carmaker registered a staggering growth of 13.9% by selling 1,37,116 units including exports. In the domestic market Maruti Suzuki India sold 1,25,778 units. Read the full sales report here.
