After numerous delays, FCA has finally set the date to launch Jeep India’s operations. The SUV brand will kick start its operations by announcing the prices during a two-day event which is scheduled between August 31 and September 1.

As announced earlier, the company will kick start the proceedings with the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. Both SUVs will be imported into the country as CBUs.

While the Grand Cherokee will pick up a fight against the luxury SUVs like the Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Mercedes GLS, the Wrangler will be cater to a niche premium off-road segment. Both models will help propagate the brand awareness in India before the volume oriented C-SUV enters production at FCA-Tata’s JV plant at Ranjangaon.

Jeep is expected to announce its further details of its dealership network at the time of launch. We expect the American SUV specialist to cover the metros and tier-I cities in its first phase of operation.

Fiat India has been struggling to generate profitable volumes. FCA hopes that Jeep would register stronger performance in the luxury segment.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be available in Limited, Summit, and SRT. The first two variants will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine while the range-topping SRT gets a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 petrol.
