Based on Proton’s first global platform that also underpins the Iriz hatchback, the sedan has scored an impressive 5-star safety rating at ASEAN NCAP.

The sedan measures 4,387 mm in length, 1,722 mm in width, 1,544 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,555 mm. The boot has an impressive capacity of 510 litres.

Like most compact sedans, the Persona derives the front half of its design from its hatchback sibling. Designers have done a commendable job of integrating the stubby boot without any awkward angles. The large sweptback taillights and black diffuser mask the visual bulk of the rear fascia.

Inside, the dashboard is identical to that of the Iriz but the sedan features dual-tone beige color theme. Three trim levels are on offer – Standard, Executive, Premium.

Range-topping Premium packs projector headlamps, alloy wheels, foglights, six airbags, touchscreen infotainment display with GPS navigation. Standard features include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, ESC, traction hold, hill hold assist, etc.

The Proton Persona is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which is mated either to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. Power and torque figures stand at 107 PS and 150 Nm of torque.
