Hyderabad: Sony India, which launched its advanced smartphone Xperia Z in the city on Thursday, said it was expecting the handset to generate sales of `250 crore in the State during next fiscal. Priced at `38, 990, the smartphone is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform. It comes with 13 megapixel camera, five inch HD display and a host of other features.

"We expect AP to contribute seven per cent to the overall Xperia sales in India. Nationwide, we are expanding our distribution network from current 350 outlets to 550," said Sachin Thapar, Mobile Division Head (Sales and Marketing), Sony India.

He further said Sony was serious about Xperia and looking to emerge as one of the top three smartphone players in the country. Besides, the company also plans to launch Xperia Tablet Z which will be for sale in India in the first week of May.
