Hyderabad (PTI): After awarding duty-free and retail contracts to Dufry and DFS, GVK Group, which manages the non-aeronautical commercial operations at Bali airport, is now calling tenders for other services such as car rentals, opening hotel lounges and travel agency at the airport. Ngurah Rai International Airport is Indonesia's second busiest international airport in Bali. According to a senior official of the infrastructure giant, the company expects to finalise the contractors by next month end as the new international terminal is in the process of completion to essentially cater to the upcoming Asia Pacific Economic Summit 2013. The summit is scheduled in October which US President Barack Obama is likely to attend. In November last year, GVK signed an operations and management contract with the Airports Authority of Indonesia, (Angkasa Pura Airports AP1), the Indonesian government airport operator, to manage the non-aeronautical commercial operations at Bali (Denpasar) International Airport. "Currently GVK and PT Angkasa Pura I are in the process of awarding two commercial contracts for car rental companies, two contracts for hotel lounges, one time share contract, three outlets for travel agencies and one outlet to open a High Street Fashion Retail. We are inviting tenders for the same," the official said.

For other contracts, the basic rate for the space provided in the airport was fixed at $860 per annum per square meter. In addition to that, the party has to offer his price above the base price, the official added. NgurahRai airport has a current traffic of about 13 million passengers per annum with a growth of 10 per cent annually. It caters to international premium leisure and business travellers primarily from Australia, China, Japan and Malaysia and many more, GVK said.
