Mukesh Ambani controlled Jio Infocomm Ltd is planning to roll out 4G wireless broadband services in West Bengal by March, 2014 and planning to infuse `3,000 crore into the state.

"We will roll out the 4G services in West Bengal by March 2014. We will be investing around `3,000 crore for West Bengal," Reliance Jio business head & state mentor (East) Tarun Jhunjhunwala said on Wednesday.

The company indicated that `6000-7,000 crore would be required for eastern region coverage including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odhisha and the Northeast over the next two to three years.

4G broadband service roll-out will also be carried out across Delhi and Mumbai by the end of this year. The company has sought permission from the Department of Telecommunications for initial trials, Jhunjhunwala said.

Detailing the 4G network rollout in West Bengal, he said, the company will be laying 4,500 km of high speed optic fibre cables and erect 3,500 towers in the state.

"We will set up 3,500 towers across 56 towns in West Bengal. We will provide 4G services at affordable rates," he added.A Reliance Jio will share the infrastructure of Anil Ambani promoted Reliance Communications for its 4G roll out.

"Around 25-30 per cent of the total infrastructure requirement in West Bengal will come from RCom," Jhunjhunwala said.

Last month, RCom signed an infrastructure sharing pact with Reliance Jio. As per the agreement, Reliance Jio would be able to use RCom's 1,20,000-km optic fibre network for carrying inter-city data traffic.A Besides, RCom would also have reciprocal access to optic fiber infrastructure to be built by Reliance Jio in the future.
