City-based pharma major Dr Reddy's Laboratories had launched its generic Lamotrigine extended-release tablets in the American market. The tablets are used for treating epilepsy "The company has launched Lamotrigine extended-release tablets in the US market on June 25, 2013, after its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA),", Dr Reddy's said in a statement. The approval is for the product in the strengths of 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg and 300 mg, it added. The company's product is generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Lamictal XR tablets. "Lamictal XR brand and generic had combined US sales of nearly $300.5 million for the most recent twelve months ending April 2013, according to IMS Health," Dr Reddy's added.
