Hyderabad: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Inc, a leading semiconductor design company, has opened its global design centre in the city on Thursday. This world-class facility, which is spread over 175,000 SFT space and features engineering labs, equipment and office space, is expected to play a key role in software and hardware innovation for the AMD’s .

Rory Read, President and Chief Executive Officer, AMD, who inaugurated the centre, said: ““AMD is committed to providing our customers with innovative, tailored technology solutions that empower people and deliver exceptional experiences”. Our Hyderabad design centre will play an important part in that mission as the team works in-concert with our other design centres around the world to deliver AMD’s next round of innovative products, he added.

The AMD’s Hyderabad centre is expected to employ over 500 engineers. The semiconductor major also has a development centre in Bangalore which has similar headcount. “India is a crucial market for AMD, and our design centers in both Hyderabad and Bangalore are key design and development hubs for our business,” said Madhusudan Atre, Corporate VP, AMD.
