A recent entrant into the highly-competitive wine business, Four Seasons Wines climbed to the second slot with 15 per cent market share within a short span of four years. Currently, it has 11 products in its portfolio which includes nine varietal labels and two varieties of reserve wines.
“We are confident that Four Seasons Wines will emerge as the market leader in the foreseeable future. UB Group commands 40 per cent share in beer market and same share in spirits market. Our goal is to garner similar share in the wine market as well,” Abhay Kewadkar, Chief Wine Maker and Director, Four Seasons Wines Limited, told The Hans India. According to him, India consumes around 20 lakh cases of wine annually with year-on-year growth of 20 to 30 per cent. In value terms, the wine market is pegged at around Rs 1,000 crore.
“Our company is logging in more growth than the industry average. We expect to register an average annual growth of 40 per cent for next several years,” Kewadkar, a seasoned wine maker, said. Kewadkar, a seasoned wine maker, Four Seasons’ product range caters to every age group and every palate in the country. “Attitude towards wine is changing fast in the country as many people are being exposed to wine consumption culture in Europe. This is driving the growth of wine market in the country. We will launch new labels to tap the growing demand,” he stated.
In addition, the company which has a winery near Pune is also looking to promote wine tourism in a big way. “We have 14 rooms and a spa at our winery. People can come and see the process of wine making. This facility will open for tourists from January next year,” Kewadkar explained.
