“We have already opened two new hospitals this fiscal and the third one will be inaugurated in next two to three weeks. The rest will follow in phases before end of the fiscal year,” Dr Reddy told media after announcing a tie-up with Rochester Medical Centre (URMC) on Tuesday.

Besides, Apollo is in the processing of setting up new hospital in Tanzania. “We have already set up a clinic there. Work on the hospital will commence soon,” Reddy said. Other countries on its radar include Rwanda and Indonesia. Claiming that Apollo Group had re-defined emergency medicare in the country, he said, the partnership, which would envisage both patient care and academic collaboration, will focus on the areas such as emergency medicare, neurology, gastroenterology, hepatology and a host of other specialisations. “This is our most comprehensive alliance to-date with an Indian institution, and we are excited about all we can learn from a partner the size, scope and quality of Apollo Hospitals. I firmly believe that this association will help both URMC and Apollo Hospitals to deliver the best of western and the eastern medicine to the communities we serve,” said Peter Robinson, COO, URMC. Together we can establish a new benchmark for global healthcare, he added.

Apollo, which celebrated 25 years of its premier hospital in Jubilee Hills on Tuesday, had launched a special programme for school kids to mark the occasion.
