Hyderabad: Through its Electronics Policy announced on Monday, Telangana government is targeting $3 billion investment in the electronics sector by the year 2020
“Telangana has continuously been at the forefront of electronics manufacturing in the country. The traditional entrepreneurial spirit of the locals, coupled with the access to skilled workforce and inherent supply chain advantages of the location have resulted in tremendous growth of the electronics industry over the last two decades,” the policy document said.
Promoting Telangana as the ideal destination for electronics industry through creation of sustainable ecosystem, the government wants to make the industry a major contributor to employment generation and economic growth in the State.
The government wants to create employment for 1.6 people through the sector besides enhancing the production capacity from $1 billion now to $7.5 billion in five years.
The government also announced Gaming and Animation Policy (IMAGE Policy) to encourage gaming, animation, visual effects and comics sectors.
