Hyderabad: The 19th edition of India’s largest medical equipment trade fair ‘Medicall’ on Friday taken off here at Hitex Exhibition Centre. Dr T Narasinga Reddy, President of IMA (Telangana), inaugurated the three-day fair, which is organised by Medexpert Business Consultants.

While talking about the motivation behind starting this expo, Dr Manivannan S, CEO of Medexpert Business Consultants and joint MD of Kauvery Hospital, a 1,000-bedded hospital said: “Small and medium sized hospitals from tier-II and III cities can’t afford to have qualified purchase managers. Equipment companies also do not have adequate sale force to meet all these hospital owners.

Since I have undergone the difficulty for my hospital, I thought Medicall will bring in all equipment manufacturers under one roof.” More than 5,000 products are being displayed at the trade fair and it focuses on all the needs of a hospital from surgical cotton to the latest imaging equipment and surgical tools.

Over 10,000 medical professionals visited the expo on the first day. The event is hosting seminars focusing on themes such as elderly care and gerontology- changing medical practice in India.
