Chennai: C. Praveen, Sun Network’s chief operating officer, 49, was arrested on Friday for allegedly harassing a former employee of Malayalam channel Surya TV, which is part of the network.

The city crime branch had booked him under sections of cheating and Tamil Nadu prohibition of sexual harassment of Women’s Act. The victim had filed the complaint after she resigned from the job five months back.
In her complaint she has stated that she was facing harassment for the last two years.
Quoting her complaint, an official said that Praveen had been holding back dues of around Rs 36 lakh in various ways.
“He would not make my payment which was due to me and said he would process it only if he ‘serviced’ well,” the woman said in her complaint.
“He would not allow me to discuss official matters if I visited him in his cabin. He would discuss other things to show his sexual desire and then ask me to come the next day… I even thought of committing suicide,” she complained.
This is the second sexual harassment charge in the last two years against a top employee of the channel owned by Kalanidhi Maran, brother of ex-union minister Dayanidhi Marana.
Police picked up the accused from his Anna Nagar residence on Thursday night and arrested him on Friday.
