Minister challenges opposition to show evidences corrupTirupati: Minister for Civil Supplies D Sridhar Babu ruled out irregularities and corruption in supplying bags to 'Amma Hastam' scheme. He challenged the opposition parties and individuals, who are leveling charges against this scheme to prove such allegation with all evidences. "We are ready to face any probe over these allegations. No corruption or favouratism was involved in giving contract or supplying container bags to pack these commodities," he stressed. Participating in 'Amma Hastam' programme held at B.Kothakota in Chittoor district on Wednesday along with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Minister said earlier the State government reduced the subsidized rice price from Rs 2 to Rs 1 and now essential commodities have been brought under subsidized price category and supplying nine varieties at cheaper prices following the request of several women. Even though supply of rice and nine other commodities on subsidized prices are not sufficient to any family, but the government is trying to lessen the financial burden on poor families, the Minister said. Unfortunately, the opposition parties are opposing this scheme by highlighting the setbacks at initial level and the people have to realise that there will be few shortcomings in any new scheme while launching, which will be rectified step by step, he explained. He ruled out the allegations that these commodities are at low quality and available at few selected fair price shops and explained that due to delay in preparations this scheme was launched at selected centers and will be streamlined from May.
