Director Ram Gopal Varma filed a petition against censor board member Dhanalakshmi under section 190, 200 of Cr.P C R/W 156 (3) for the offences under sections 166 and 506 IPC at Nampally court in Hyderabad on Monday. A statement of the complaint said that although ‘Satya 2’ got an ‘A’ certificate with three cuts in the Hindi version of the movie, it underwent 40 cuts in Telugu due to censor board officer Dhanalakshmi’s unreasonable attitude.

When RGV’s representative questioned the censor board member about the unreasonable number of cuts, she reportedly threatened and abused him severely. She equated producers and directors to dogs and that they should heed to her. She threatened to stall the release of the film if they didn’t. The copy of the complaint also states that: “Owing to her random demands and negligence in maintaining office timings, the film had to be released in a haphazard way with cuts which disrupted the artistic flow of the film. These cuts were made only to satisfy her ego and with vested self interest.”

It also added that everyone is afraid to raise voice as she keeps the movie for pending for months together causing severe hardship and financial loss to producers and directors in the industry.

“When complainant approached the concerned police station against the accused, the police declined to accept the complaint stating she is a very influential lady so the complainant had no other choice except filing case in High Court. Even the Manchu family faced similar problem earlier,” the copy of the case added. The case will come for a hearing on Tuesday.
