Hitting the right notes since a long time, ‘Varna’, a fantasy drama featuring Anushka and Arya in the lead roles, has bagged a clean ‘U’ certificate from Censors. Directed by Sri Raghava, the film is slated to open on November 22. It will be released in 1,200 screens across the globe, read a statement from the production house on Thursday.
Meanwhile, impressed with the output of the film, actor Arya has picked up its distributions in Malaysia and Singapore. “There are so many untapped international markets and this is my attempt to explore some of these markets. Malaysia and Singapore constitute such markets and I also came to know that my recent release 'Raja Rani' did well there. Therefore, I picked up the distribution rights of ‘Varna’ in these areas," said Arya.
The North distribution rights were acquired by Fox StarsMade on a whopping budget of Rs 60 crore, the film which has been shot in international locations like Rio de Janeiro (in Brazil), Utah (in USA), Georgia besides Hyderabad, Goa, Rajamundhry and Chennai, has visual effects supervised by Keith Devlin. He has worked on several Hollywood films including ‘Avatar’.
