The launch of the book on yesteryear legendary director Adurthi Subba Rao proved to be a walk down the memory lane with veterans such as director Vishwanath, actor Krishna and actress Vijaya Nirmala recalling the good old days of working with him.

The event held at Nanakramguda on Monday also had ‘Prince’ Mahesh Babu with wife Namrata and sister Manjula making their presence felt. The book ‘Adurthi Subba Rao’ showcases the work of the Darsaka Chakravarthi with illustrations. The National Award-winning director is known for classics such as ‘Manchi Manasulu,’ and ‘Mooga Manasulu’. Vishwanath presented the first copy of the book to Mahesh and Krishna.
Describing the late Adurthi as his guru and mentor, Vishwanath remarked, “I started my career with him. He is one of the few filmmakers who made clean cinema and had a great command over dialogue writing. Not just a dreamer, he is a practical person too,” he added. He appreciated Krishna for remembering Adurthi who shaped up Krishna’s career”. Actor Krishna recalled how Adurthi was already a top director who was working with top stars like ANR, NTR and MGR by the time he started his career. “I was surprised that he chose me for the lead role in the movie he made with rank newcomers. I can never forget that moment. I worked for four films with him of which ‘Mayadari Malligadu’ remains the special one. I will always be grateful to him”, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijaya Nirmala said, “I am also lucky to have worked with directors like Vishwanath and Adurthi Subba Rao”.
