Salman Khan is fondly called as ‘Sallu Bhai’ in Old City and has more following there, than anywhere else. People from Old City throng the theatres to watch their favourite movie star in action on big screen. However, his recent flick ‘Jai Ho’, did not met the usual cheer.

Released in almost half of the theatres, the film met with a lukewarm response from usually faithful crowd. Theatre owners said that the movie would be yanked this Friday.
It all started with Asaduddin Owaisi, when he flayed Salman for his participation in the ‘Kite Festival’ with Narendra Modi in Gujarat and praising him. The MIM leader exerts a great influence in the region and it is alleged that his comments have influenced, the otherwise loyal Muslim audience.
Minhaj Hussain, owner, Shama Cinema, admitted that the film was received very badly by the local crowd, who hold Salman in high regard and is a craze among the youth of the area.
Reports suggest that the occupancy of the film, from the release was just about 40 per cent. This is in contrast to his previous films which raked in huge money.
When the controversy was brewing, reports emerged that the theatre owners sought police protection, however, there were no agitations.
