Hyderabad: Two students were arrested on Saturday on charges of uploading an unreleased track from the movie ‘Manam’, which is being produced by Annapurna Studios, on YouTube.
The accused-- Mubashir Shaik, 18, and Shaik Abid Basha, 23, hailing from Guntur district - were taken into custody based on a complaint lodged by production unit manager of Annapurna Studios, police said.
“The anti-piracy cell of the Central Crime Station (CCS) police, which is closely monitoring the online uploading and downloading of movies/songs in the wake of growing complaints from the film industry, nabbed the duo in Guntur (by tracking their IP addresses) for uploading the unreleased track on YouTube with the help of a movie maker software, ‘backbench production’,” said Pala Raju, DCP, Detective Department, Hyderabad.
