he makers of Allu Arjun-starrer ‘Race Gurram’ are a happy bunch, for that it is the first film of the actor which has grossed the magic figure Rs 5 crore mark in the first weekend at the US box-office. More so, it has given a neck and neck competition to Hollywood heavyweight ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ at US box-office chart- it featured at No 12 position next to the sci-fi flick which took the number 10 slot as of on Sunday. The actor’s ‘Julayi’ has collected Rs 2.5 crore over its first weekend across the foreign shore. Fresh reports pointed out that ‘Race Gurram’ has already joined the $ 1 million club, a feat that was achieved by the likes of Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu and NTR.

Down here too the film has packed a punch. While producer Nallamalapu Bujji said that he’ still waiting for the official figures to come his way, trade pundits have informed that the film’s total share till Sunday has touched Rs 21.5 crore. It is running to packed houses and even on dull days like Monday and Tuesday, there were no declines. It is expected to have minted Rs 2.75 crore on Monday in both Seemandhra and Telangana, thereby emerging as the year’s biggest hit. Arjun’s films in the past have never touched Rs 50 crore mark, but seeing the way this Race Horse is headed to, it’s likely that it will emerge as his biggest money spinner. Moreover, there are no biggies to give Arjun a stiff competition till early May.
