Is Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy Chiru’s 150th film? VV Vinayak, whom Chiru rates high, is expected to helm the film. “Of the current lot Chiru felt that Vinayak would create the perfect drama out of ‘Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy’.

For long, actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi has dropped enough hints to star in his 150th project. Be it at the promotional events of ‘Robot’ or at ‘Bbuddah - Hoga Terra Baap’ late last decade or at the muhurat of nephew Varun Tej’s film recently, Megastar has expressed his interest in crossing the magic figure, although he left it to the hands of the almighty. However, going by the current buzz in the industry, the stage is now set for Chiru, who bid goodbye to the glitz and glamour of films in 2008 after ruling the industry for more than two decades, to give acting a shot again.

Tollywood: Is Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy Chiru’s 150th Film?

Says a source, “Now that the elections are over, Chiru is toying with the idea of taking his 150th film on to floors as soon as possible. He has been listening to scripts for a long time, finally zeroing in on the inspiring tale of ‘Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy’. It is a role that befits his stature, both in the film and political arena. His son RamCharan is monitoring the activities surrounding the film which is currently in its pre-production.”

VV Vinayak, whom Chiru rates high, is expected to helm the film. “Of the current lot Chiru felt that Vinayak would create the perfect drama out of ‘Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy’. Since he has not committed to any other films apart from his current film ‘Alludu Sreenu’ which introduces Bellamkonda Suresh’s son Srinivas, Vinayak, in all likelihood, is tipped to bag the project,” claims the source adding that the maker is also interested in the project. For starters Narasimha Reddy, hailing from present day Kurnool, is considered to be one of the first freedom fighters who have led revolt against British occupation - even before the 1857 Sepoy Rebellion.

Does that mean Chiru will bid adieu to politics? “No, he will not. He will balance both, but the film will take precedence for the year. He has got a go ahead from his party’s high command,” adds the source. We’ve also learnt that the announcement regarding this will happen on his birthday -August 22. Looks like a perfect gift for Mega fans who remained silent on the actor’s birthdays for the past many years!
