Sneha: I Don’t Care if I Play 36, 32 or 28Not the original choice for ‘Ulavacharu Biryani’, actress Sneha is currently on cloud nine, as her performance in the film received a thumbs-up from both audiences and critics. “My parents and in-laws are proud of my role. Even my husband, Prasanna, couldn’t hide his excitement. He has praised my performance on Twitter,” says Sneha in a chatathon. Directed by Prakash Raj, the film released last Friday.

The actress, who missed the pre-release promotions of the flick, says she has good reason to do so. “It was a long-pending American holiday,” she quips. About her US trip, she says, “Prasanna and I gorged on different cuisines everyday at some of the best restaurants in the US. We both are food lovers.”

In real life, Sneha dubs for Anushka, Tamannaah and Kajal in Tamil, and in reel life too she plays a dubbing artiste in the film. Talking about her experience on the sets, she says, “Prakash Raj wanted the character to be very natural and close to real life. On the sets, I used to behave in the same way as I do at home. It was a new experience altogether.”

Getting into the details of the shoot, she says, “Since it was shot in three languages simultaneously, there were assistant directors for each language. Even before we got ready, they used to drop by to explain the scene in detail. We shot for the Tamil version first, followed by the Telugu and Kannada versions.”

It’s been nearly two years since she married fellow actor Prasanna. Quiz her if her thought process has changed over the kind of roles that she should accept post marriage and she responds, “From day one, I’ve been doing good roles. Take any film of mine – be it ‘Madhumasam’, ‘Radhagopalam’ or ‘Rajanna’ – I have always played strong roles. My thought process still remains the same. I will accept only good roles.”

As an afterthought she adds, “I always take my family into consideration before signing a project. They shouldn’t feel uncomfortable seeing me on screen.”

Was playing a 36-year-old in the film a risky thing? To that she replies, “Since I’ve started young, I have in the past enacted older roles, this is nothing new to me. I look for strong roles and such characters are generally above 30. As long as the role in strong, I don’t care if I play 36, 32 or 28.”

Post marriage, life is beautiful, she insists. “I’ve married my best friend and I’m happy that I’ve married him. He never interferes in my career, but rather gives his inputs. In fact, he was the first one to have asked me to star in Prakash Raj Productions.”

Never a planner in life, she takes things as they come. However, she is keen to float a production house with Prasanna soon. “We are planning to produce a Tamil film soon, talks are on,” she says before signing off.
