Raju turns a busy distributor

Days after bagging the Nizam and Visakhapatnam rights of Gunasekar’s ‘Rudhramadevi’, producer Dil Raju has now acquired the Uttarandhra distribution rights of one of the most anticipated films of the year, ‘Aagadu’. Riding high on expectations, the film which stars superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role is expected to hit the screens in mid-September. The producer, we hear, had to shell out more than Rs 5 crores for the rights.

A source says, “Raju is a shrewd businessman. Realising that ‘Aagadu’, brins together the ‘Dookudu’ combination of Mahesh Babu and Sreenu Vaitla, it has all the trappings of a commercial entertainer with loads of action and comedy; he had to get hold of the rights for a fancy prize. Added to it, since he has no big productions lined up for the year, he perhaps thought why not make money on a film which has blockbuster status written all over it?”
