On the Lines of Oka Romantic Crime KathaAdmitting that it was a conscious decision to make ‘Oka Criminal Prema Katha’ (OCPK), his new film, on the lines of his earlier successful movie ‘Oka Romantic Crime Katha’ (ORCK), director P Suneel Kumar Reddy says that he has done thorough research on the project, starring Manoj Nandam, Anil Kalyan, and Priyanka Pallavi in the lead roles, before he took it on to sets.

“I’ve interacted with students of 20 engineering colleges. I’ve asked whether they were ever represented in mainstream cinema, but a majority of them replied in the negative. In fact, a girl asked me, ‘Nirbhaya case has made it to the headlines of newspapers across the country, but why not molestation cases which transpire in girl’s homes?’ It triggered me to pen ‘OCPK’,” he recalls. Another reason for him to pen the script was the facts. “Government of India on record said that 53. 4 per cent of boys and girls are sexually abused in the country. Even Delhi police commissioner recently said that 97 per cent rapes occur in homes. No one has discussed this point till now and I felt the need to do it. When I interacted with girls in person, they revealed shocking facts. I’ve placed them in the film and majority of the films dialogues are their own words,” he shares.

The only remedy to such problems is that girls should speak about it, he feels. He cites a case in point. “A girl recently wrote a letter to the Akhilesh Yadav government accusing her father and brother of sexual harassment. As soon as Akhilesh received the letter, he brought the culprits to justice. After this incident, his government started receiving hundreds of letters of similar complaints.”
