Big plans for Geetanjali

Writer Kona Venkat, who is credited for writing films like ‘Dookudu’, ‘Balupu’ and ‘Dhee’, among others, has partnered with Visakhapatnam based real estate tycoon MVV Satyanarayana to producer Anjali-starrer ‘Geetanjali’. Stating that the film’s script prompted him to turn producer, the writer says the movie was to be produced by Param V Potluri in the beginning. “I was taken aback when director Rajkiran narrated the script to me two years back. It was more of a horror drama when he conceived it first; only after my entry into the project it was peppered with humor. Later when I came to know that PVP abandoned the project, I decided to produce it with Satyanarayana,” says Kona.

Kona adds that he took the help of writers Gopi Mohan and Anil Ravipudi to fine tune the script. “If the train sequence in ‘Venky’ had the audience in splits, there are at least five such sequences in ‘Geetanjali’. We’ve also filmed a song on Brahmanandam; we will unveil it in a day or two,” he says. The writer is planning to release the film in the first week of August.

“I’ve already finalised a top heroine for a special number in the film,” he says.
