On the insistence of MS Raju

While his recent productions might have sunk without a trace at the box-office, director Maruthi is hoping for a change in fortune with Sumanth Ashwin and Nanditha-starrer ‘Lovers’. The film, a contemporary romance between a couple that begins in school and continues into college, is helmed by ‘Lucky’ fame director Harinath.

Stating that film’s shooting is over barring two days, Maruthi said, “I only wanted to associate with the production of the film to in the beginning but due to producer MS Raju’s request, I decided to pen dialogues and screenplay. Though the film exceeded its budget, producers Suryadevara Nagavamshi and Mahendar Reddy had no complaints; they were in fact more bothered about the quality.”
