AR Rahman’s son Ameen may soon be making his singing debut in Tamil and it could well be through director Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film.

Disclosing this information at a press conference, the Mozart of Madras, who is to perform a concert in the city on October 2, said, “There have been a lot of offers for my son to act as well as perform, but I would like him to concentrate on his studies now. I want him to have a little bit of privacy. So, he will not be performing at the concert.“

When asked if the father and son would be collaborating anytime soon, Rahman replied with his signature smile, “Ameen might sing in Mani Ratnam’s next film.“ Ameen shot to limelight when he performed at the Chennai International Film Festival in 2012, taking the audience by surprise.More recently , he sung the NaNa number from Rahman’s Hollywood project, Couples Retreat.

Rahman revealed that his concert in Chennai would feature over 50 of his songs, spread over twoand-a-half hours. “My regular singers like Neeti, Karthik and Blaaze will be performing with me.I will be performing all my hit numbers starting from the 90s, till today. Most of the songs will be in Tamil but I may perform some songs from my H o l ly wo o d films too.Re h e a r s a l s are on in full swing.“
