"This is a special day for me and I am very humbled to receive the award instituted by Rainbow Foundation," Shah Rukh said.

Noting that he came from a humble background, the actor said he has been working for the last 33 years. "My first visit to England was when I was 27 in connection with the first film ‘Baazigar’. I have got lot more than I deserved."

He said the award would inspire him to work a lot more for the community, particularly the neglected community. "I will try to do in a small away, whatever I can," he said. Previous recipients of the award are Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, actress Aishwarya Rai, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, American civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton, Jackie Chan, music legend Dionne Warwick among others.
