Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has decided to connect online with his millions of admirers on his 72nd birthday this weekend.

The unique initiative has been launched by micro-blogging site Twitter and Fluence, India's leading Celebrity Digital media network which connects celebrities with their fans and brands through their digital presence.
"Every year on my birthday I am overwhelmed by love and affection that I receive from my fans, from across the world. This year with the help of Twitter and Fluence, I have found this unique way to reciprocate the love, even though the message is communicated through a digital medium for me it is as personal as wishing each individual myself," Bachchan said in a statement.
Bachchan, fondly known as Big B on social-media circuits, has fan following ranging from various age groups with more than 30 million people following him across social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
"Mr Bachchan is the most followed person on Twitter in India and he has been setting standards in using Twitter to connect with fans in real-time and sharing his voice on the platform.
"We are delighted to host his birthday celebration on Twitter and bring a new experience to his millions of fans and followers," said Rishi Jaitly, Market Director, South and Southeast Asia at Twitter.
The birthday of 'Bhoothnath Returns' star will be marked as a day of celebration on social media and to give all his fans sufficient time to greet their superstar on his special
day. This activity will be on for five days, starting from today to October 11.
Bachchan's fan just needs to send him hashtag #AB72Wishes for digitally signed poster and the lucky one will receive a video message from the actor.
"Mr Bachchan is one of India's most loved stars, the love and devotion he inspires in his fans is unprecedented," said Ashish Joshi, VP Digital & Business Head - Fluence, adding it was Big B's way of thanking "his millions of fans for their love and affection."
