Zooey DeschanelSinging duo She & Him have announced the release date of their new covers album.

Classics, the follow-up to their 2013 effort Volume 3, was recorded live with a 20-piece orchestra and is slated for a December 2 release. The LP is Zooey Deschanel and M Ward's first with new label Columbia, and will feature interpretations of 13 "timeless standards".

The pair unveiled the first full track from the album - their version of Dusty Springfield's 'Stay Awhile' - via an interactive analogue radio on their official website on Friday. Snippets of another song, a cover of 1964 R&B single “Oh No Not My Baby” by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, were first heard in a 40-second video trailer for the LP that appeared on the official She & Him Youtube channel back in August.

"It was a dream of ours to record these songs in a way that highlighted the brilliance of the songwriting and the beauty of their melodies," said Deschanel upon the trailer's release.

"We had a wonderful time making the record and we hope people have a wonderful time listening to it."
