Illeana: Many actors haven't worked in YRF banner

Illeana D’Cruz is all set to showcase the other side of her talent in her latest outing Happy Ending, In a hearty chat with Lipika Varma she talks of her movies, equation with co-stars and more

On Her reel character

Anchal is similar to me. She’s independent and more emotional and romantic. She is a smart girl and doesn’t want to express her feelings to someone she doesn’t know. She doesn’t believe in happy endings and love ever after. She is a modern girl and there are many similarities to me in real. I think she is a typical traditional girl and is stupid. I believe in it but in real life it doesn't happen as you want it to happen. She is a writer and wants to write a novel like that. I have not done such films before so it was a different experience for me. Every story has a happy ending and you have to end it when you want to. She writes all romantic stuff but doesn’t believe in it.

There was no learning process but she is very refreshing. When you are a teenager you read all these romantic books like Mills & Boons and expect a tall dark and handsome guy. She is very mature and smart but an introvert. She doesn’t want to express her feelings.”

Working with Saif

I love working with him and it’s really so easy working with him .He makes everyone comfortable. It’s nice to see him coming back to doing such films. I have not done such films before. He used to keep telling me try this or do that, while I enacted any scenes, this indeed enhanced my performances. He reads so much and has so much knowledge.

On learning experiences

There is no learning process. She is very refreshing .In real life I would love to write a book on philosophy and psychology.

I have not met SRK at all and I am a part of Happy Ending. Right now, I am at point that I am doing a film like this. It shows me in different light. It’s an important film and it shows me in a nice subtlety now.

Working with David and now with Govinda

It was a tricky role. Davidji’s films are difficult to understand, he is a hard task master. It’s fun to do fun films like that and Happy Ending is fun too, but in a subtle way. It was easy working with Varun and Govinda. He’s amazing. I was nervous dancing and I rehearsed a lot. He was so nice.

Working with YRF Banner and the Khans

I have no agenda to work with anyone as such. I like good stories. For me it’s doing things I like to do I don’t want to work with Khans but I want to do significant roles. I have not set any goals that I will work with this banner or that banner. There are so many actors who have not worked with Yash Raj. If I do get an opportunity I would love to work with them. And also would love to work with the Khans.

Working with director duo

D.K is very quiet and Raj is more talkative. They both decide what they want to do. I would more often ask Raj about the scenes while performing. one thing is very clear-both DK and Raj have the same wave length and they do not differ much. It was thus easy to work with the director duo.

Working with Kalki

I met her in a photo shoot at Marrakech film Festival. I didn’t know her but she’s nice and chilled out and relaxed and quirky. We had a blast on the sets.
