The actor says that he’s been approached to join a political party; reveals why he attended the Maharashtra CM’S swearing in ceremony.

Actor Vivek Oberoi has been an active participant at blood-donation events, and lent his support towards girl child education. And, as is often the case with actors who seem to take interest in social causes, at some point, they are invited to join politics.

Vivek — who was also seen recently at Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis swearing-in ceremony at Wankhede Stadium (on October 31) — reveals that he’s been approached to join the Bhartiya Janta Party by some of its members. Vivek says, “I have been asked to actively be part of BJP. But I have always shied away from politics. I am happy working for the society without being in the political sphere.” Vivek goes on to reveal that “during the Lok Sabha elections, I was asked to contest on behalf of the party, but I respectfully declined. I campaigned for them, because I believe in their vision.”

The actor, however, agrees that the support of politicians does help with social work. “If politicians and bureaucrats support you, then your work happens quickly,” says Vivek.

Ask him what made him attend the CM’s swearing in, and he says, “The Maharashtra CM has been an angel for cancer patients. Since I also work for the betterment of cancer patients, I know him in person.”
